Because of this, teaching grammar and spelling will take a back seat for children in kindergarten and be ignored until much later.The first step to teaching writing and paper grammar and spelling for kindergarten is to see to it that the writing skills of your child are honed. When they are able to speak clearly and confidently, it is time to get them into writing mode. This is best done with the help of a writing tool such as a black or light-colored marker. To make the process easier, have a notebook with your child's name on it so that when they use the 'writing' pen they can identify the paper.Take a bit of time to review the main words that your child uses when writing in the same font as the writing paper. This will give them the foundation for their grammar and spelling skills. However, don't overdo it and constantly change their writing habits because it will not make them fluent in wr iting. The point of teaching grammar and spelling to the kindergarten children is to get them to become aware of the letters and how they are used in sentences.Since second grade is about words and not letters, the best tool for this is pictures. Have your child take a picture of each word they are going to write and place it next to the word they are going to write. It is important that they find ways to relate to the words instead of just filling them in.They should be able to see, feel, hear, and understand simple ideas that they are writing about. They will also have the confidence to write more than one paragraph, but remember, the purpose of writing is to help teach them how to communicate using words.Although kindergarten has a lot of writing involved, the biggest challenge for spelling and grammar will come in their second grade writing class. In their third grade writing class, most teachers will start giving them a writing paper to take home. By now, your child should be a ble to write an essay on anything, but the main goal is to teach them how to be polite and how to answer the question asked to them.
